Art Official of Newtown Sound in Wellington, who I met at the Radioactive FM studios at the end of last year, is coming to Sydney. Alongside Switzerland’s Ever Living Sprit and Sydney reggae stalwarts Firehouse, he will be dropping tunes at Hermann’s on Saturday 12 January for “Global Warming“. Outernational vibrations!
The Peats Ridge Festival has been cancelled. Damn.
Here’s that tune I was talking about before.
It’s No Frills Thanksgiving at the Abercrombie - good idea, terrible name. Processed turkey slices and mayonnaise sandwiches under a trailer park sky. (What next: Black & Gold Christmas? Buy-Lo Diwali?) In fact it’s a drum & bass local producer showcase, with a record fair, food and cheap beer. Sounds alright. I have finally finished a tune so I’ll be playing that at some point in the evening. I meant to post it up here but I’ve left it at home. I’ll do it tomorrow if I’m not too hung over.
Inna Riddim Sound will be mashing up the Dub Shack stage at Peat’s Ridge festival in the evening (I think around 10pm) on the 29th December … it’s a “sustainable” festival so bring no beef, strictly ital vibes, sight? We haven’t played out in ages so this will be a special one. We come fi demolish sound an murder bwoy .. er, and peace and love and all that.
Caught the Versionaries yesterday at the Beach Road in Bondi … their “Style Wars” tune is brilliant.

A quick roundup of good listening material:
BunZer0’s tribute mix of Wascal’s dubstep tunes is heavy - that first track (remix of D-Force’s Original Bad Boy) alone is worth the download.
I skimmed through a mix of 100% Japanese dubstep by DJ百窓, which is interesting, if a bit odd, especially the choice of vocal samples (Goodfellas sample made me laugh, and there are some weird poppy vocals in there that just sound silly over big basslines). And Neurosis Orchestra’s mix The Shadow Forest is great moody stuff.
DiamondEye has a couple of dnb mixes for download - one liquidy one of his own tunes and a mad ragga/dubwise one with some classics on it. I missed Alix Perez’ Sydney show last weekend so I’ve been listening to his mix from JJJ.
